This is one of my favorites. I used paint rollers on paper for this painting. By scrubbing the acrylic paint as I applied it, the surface emerged flat, resembling a print. |

Each layer of acrylic paint applied was sanded until a satin patina was developed on the entire surface. This is a people friendly piece because viewers like to run their hands over the smooth, shiny surface. |

Auntie
This is an abstract image of a photo taken at my great-grandmothers farmhouse in Kansas. The human figure you see is my Aunt Marge, age 92.

Spirit Man
This image began to emerge and disappear as I painted.
Here, I am using only ranges of white, black and gray acrylic paint. To further change the convention of showing work, I hang this piece upside down, because spirit people wouldn’t really know up from down.

The ship image began emerging late in the painting. Before long, the painting took on a life of its own. A combination of roller painting and brush painting gives this work a new depth of texture that correlates with the movement of the boat and figure in the boat.
